This accumulated collection of items would normally be $ 133 but is being offered at low price so that interested Scouts or Scouters could get 27 items PLUS assist us in raising funds for our 2021 Inaugural Duty To God Pilgrimage course hosted by the Philmont Training Center.
The 2007 to 2020 Tour and Pilgrimage programs were efforts to increase Scouting Religious awards, plus offer an opportunity to obtain International Scouting awards by cooperation with the Scouts of Japan, and make presentations at Philmont Scout Ranch during our visits.

Duty To God Pilgrimage.
With the 92% Excellent/Good rating success of the program from participants, the concept was expanded to all Scouting Religious Awards (as long as counselors available for each faith) and conducting several sessions at the Philmont Training Center as a pilot program.
Unfortunately, Philmont cancelled due to Cov19 but we had already created these patches for 2020.

We have 18 Scouts and Scouters already signed up representing 3 Troops, 4 religions and lots of enthusiasm for 2021.

2007 Ad Altare Dei Tour
Patch Portrait Explanation
Concept:
The Scouting Religious Committee 2007 Ad Altare Dei Tour was an unprecedented effort to energize local Catholic Scouting.
The results were 37% increase in attendance at the 2006 Boy Scout Retreat, 43% increase in attendance at the 2007 Boy Scout Retreat, 15 new Ad Altare Dei Award Counselors trained, 10 Troops participated In a Catholic Retreat (who had not participated recently), 8 new Scouts became Chaplains Aide’s, 1 Scout discerned a potential vocation, another Scout was invited to the Seminary at Notre Dame, and 33 Boy Scouts earned the Ad Altare Dei Award (doubling prior year award count).
As each Scout progressed through their work on awards, they would receive the next patch in the series of patches for the Tour.
Top Patch.
The crest of the AAD Award dominates the central portion of the patch just as the Philmont “Tooth of Time” beckons our Scouts to achieve their highest goals.
Our unprecedented journey culminated in the Scouts participating in Philmont Mass, meeting officials of the NCCS at the NCCS Training (Philmont Training Center), and conducting a Living Rosary using blue glowsticks before the National Conference audience.

Tour.
This tour patch represents the origination of our tour in Texas and reaching San Miguel Chapel.
San Miguel, the oldest continuous chapel within the United States, dates back to 1610 when a priest oversaw the construction.
The Philmont Gateway represented by the pole and banner is a replica of the Philmont Gateway as it was in 2007.
This Gateway is famous as tired Scouts coming off the trail often throw their worn out boots to hang off the gateway as they leave camp for all parts east.

Award Completion.
Just as our Scouts complete their award, so they completed the 2007 Patch Portrait when they successfully passed their AAD Board of Reviews
The Cross completes the likeness of the AAD Award begun by the top patch.
The adobe gateway and Church at Chimayo symbolizes the religious aspect of our tour.
The likeness of Fr Serra represents the Catholic Church, Scouting, the Serra Club and religious ministries as each have the same values.
Finally, Scouting thanks Fr James Dolan of Los Angeles who brought the innovative idea of a religious Scouting award to Scouts during 1926 – he created, designed and brought to life – the Ad Altare Dei Award.

Anniversary of Scouting
On July 26, 2007, 43 Scouts and 19 Scouters embarked on a faith journey unrivaled in the history of the
Scouting Religious Committee of Longhorn Council
.
There were many blessings on our 2007 Ad Altare Dei tour but none rivaled a simple idea that grew from an offer of a Scouts mother.
The unprecedented 2007 Ad Altare Dei Tour had been the beneficiary of a parent who came forward and volunteered to make 1,000 rosaries for our Scouts.
Groups of our Scouts and Scouters had met several times before our trip to complete Rosary packages that included:

Upon arrival at Philmont, most of these 1,000 rosary packages were distributed to the Catholic Scouting representatives who had arrived for Training at the Philmont Training Center.
After the Conference, each Scouter was asked to distribute these packages to whom they wished.
Each recipient of the rosary package was asked to pray 3 rosaries and mail the postcard back upon completion.
What they didn’t know is that every postcard received would then get a reply with a “matching” blue border Pray the Rosay patch.
For 2 years, the rosary postcards were returned from Scouts and Scouters as far as New York, California, and Florida.
The blessings continued … Scouters from Ohio and Louisianna emailed and asked if they could continue this practice and so we accommodated their requests.
2012 St Paul Miki Japanese Presentation at Philmont Scout Ranch patch
During the first days of 2012, the Footsteps Staff contacted the BSA International Division for permission to invite 2 Boy Scouts of Nippon from Japan.
After receiving permission, the Japan Committee on Scouting conducted a “search” for 2 Boy Scouts to visit the US and participate in the 2012 Footsteps of the Saints Pilgrimage.
Scouts and Scouters from 8 Troops, 3 Scout Councils and 2 Countries participated in the exploration of the lives of St Juan Diego, Blessed Fr Serra, Venerated Fr McGivney, Blessed Pope John Paul II, and recently canonized St Katera Tekakwitha (Mohawk Indian).
As a part of this International Scouting and inspired faith journey, the life of Japanese Saint Paul Miki was chosen as the final subject of our Pilgrimage.
Our Scouts visited San Miguel Mission (oldest Church in US), Loretto’s Chapel (“Miraculous Staircase”), the Church at Chimayo, Bandolier Cliff Dwellings, Kit Carson Museum, Villa Philmonte and conducted a Living Rosary in the mountains of New Mexico.
To mark the unprecedented nature of this international faith journey, a patch was designed by our Scouts and produced.
The “2012 Footsteps of the Saints” explains the theme of our Pilgrimage to Santa Fe, Chimayo and Philmont Scout Ranch where our contingent conducted a “Living Rosary” using blue light sticks following the daily Philmont Mass.
Our 2012 Pilgrimage presented 500 Holy Rosary packages to the
NCCS PTC Conference
, our Japanese Scouts presented Japan Committee on Scouting patches to NCCS Philmont Conference and group pictures were taken with the National Chaplain and National Chairman.
On the patch, St Paul Miki is shown with the Japanese translation of his name and his likeness from 1597.
St Paul Miki carries the international symbol of Christianity in the cross and an Olive Branch.
In his left hand, the beads and cross of the Holy Rosary hang.
The “SFATX” that is “ghosted” (within the design between the Scout symbol and the knees of St Miki) represents
St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine Texas as one of the sponsors of our Pilgrimage.
Scouters of Longhorn Council Troop 32 and Knights of Columbus 759 round out the official sponsors of our 2012 Pilgrimage.
The English text for “Philmont Scout Ranch” rounds out the design at the bottom of the patch with the Japanese translation.
2012 Footsteps Cont Black Buffalo Pilgrimage to New Mexico and Philmont Scout Ranch
“One of a kind” very limited special issue contingent piece.
Only 60 in existence but some went back to Japan!
To commemorate the unprecedented visit by Scouts from the Boy Scouts of Nippon, a limited edition black buffalo “wearing” patches on both sides was produced.
One side featuring the Tooth of Time and the word “Philmont” in Japanese while the other side featured the stylized New Mexico Sun and “2012 Pilgrimage.”

The Japanese Scouts presented the life of St Paul Miki to American Scouts while participating in the Messenger of Peace program, Living Rosary in Japanese and had Buffalo Burgers at the Philmont Dining Hall.
The Footsteps of the Saints program is a National Comm program that explores the lives of Blessed Pope John Paul II, Blessed Fr Serra, Saint Katera Tekakwitha (Mohawk Indian), St Juan Diego, and Venerated Fr Michael McGivney.
2014 St John Paul II Footsteps of Saints Philmont Scout Ranch visit
The Footsteps of the Saints program studies the NCCS Footsteps of the Saints plus other extraordinary holy men as part of the 6 day Pilgrimage to Santa Fe, Chimayo and Philmont Scout Ranch.
During the ramp up of the
Pilgrimage in April 2014, St John Paul II was canonized and a patch was produced to commemorate one of the subjects of the Pilgrimage and the canonization in the same year.
Our Scouts studied John Paul II as a role model who experienced the brutal Nazi rule, the lack of religious freedom under the Communist rule and the way John Paul was able to triumph without losing heart or resorting to violence.
Losing his mother as a child, losing his father during Nazi occupation, losing his friends during communist rule, JP II had every reason to seek vengeance … but he chose a different path that would eventually triumph.
This is the first known Scout patch highlighting J P II’s canonization – St John Paul II - with the letters in the bottom right corner of the patch.
Pilgrimage Participants met NCCS Conference members and participated in 2 daily masses.
A “Living Rosary” was conducted with the Footsteps Pilgrimage at the Philmont Chapel and presentations were made by Japan Committee on Scouting members as a final highlight to their visit to Philmont.
Our Japanese guests also enjoyed their hand at Tomahawk Throwing at the Kit Carson Museum.
All 5 "stuck" the Tomahawk and 4 of the 5 did it during their FIRST EVER toss!
On the patch, John Paul II is shown in his first audience with the world after having been selected Pope.
His arms outstretched welcoming all to his message of peace.
The 2014 Footsteps of the Saints is translated into Japanese below it and the word “Philmont” is on the left border identifying the location where Scouts studied St John Paul II’s work.
The Tooth of Time is highlighted on the left and “FWDCCS” is ghosted below to represent the sponsoring organization of the Pilgrimage.
Scouts and Scouters from 5 Diocese, 12 Scout units, and 2 countries inspired by the Japanese visitors, visits to the Miraculous Staircase San Miguel Mission (oldest church in America), interaction with NCCS PTC Conference and St Francis Cathedral where a statue of St Kateri Tekakwitha (first Indian Saint) stands.   In all, 91 International Awards were earned by these Scouts during this unprecedented interaction between Scouts of America and the Diocese of Tokyo in Japan.

Since our trips included a visit to the Indian Cliff Dwellings, and since St Kateri Tekakwitha had just been made a Saint (and there is a statue of her in Santa Fe, NM), we created a patch for her with black and silver borders.
Silver border was for Scouts of Japan.
